Living Room Furnishings: How To Create Mood Lighting

If you're thinking of living room furnishings and you primarily want to create some awesome mood lighting, then here's my tips:

For a small living room, keep the furnishings simple and stylish. To create mood lighting, choose small items such as floating candles and small, unique table lamps to enhance the atmosphere.

For larger living rooms, you can easily get away with a floorstanding lamp to set the mood. However, this is best tucked in corner so as not to overpower the room.

To get great living room furnishings, it is important to get the lighting sorted, so that is why i recommend investing in the right sort of lighting so you can get the mood right.

Shabby Chic For The Bedroom!

If you're looking for chic home furnishings, you can't get much more chic than shabby chic in the bedroom...it can really transform a space.

Start with getting a white wash beautifully carved dressing table - you might have had a dark wood piece in your bedroom before, you to keep it chic, go for white. It will reflect the light as well as making the room look larger.

I love the shabby chic chairs that you can place under a window - making it look really inviting to go and sit there. Shabby chic is very popular with women for the clean, feminine feel that it can give a room.

Make your bedroom something special and go down the shabby chic route for somthing truly different.

Modern Furnishings: On-Trend

Many people are opting for modern furnishings over the traditional these days. Ikea has long been the global supplier of modern, contemporary furniture that epitomises the "minimalist" culture. In Europe, this theme is very popular and we are starting to catch on over here in the UK.

At one time, houses in the UK would be littered with cumbersome furniture, and as a nation of "hoarders" it is refreshing to think that we are now embracing the chic alternative to antique furniture, which features striking colours, sharp lines and clean living. The almost "clinical" feel is one that is increasingly popular with homeowners as they really want to update their homes to the 21st Century.

Modern furnishings are a great way to feel good about yourself too, a bit like when you buy the latest designer garment. Being on-trend is something that extends from fashion right through to furnishings, and this is why we are starting to appreciate the importance of looking good and feeling great. Keeping our homes looking top notch means that when visitors come round, we can feel proud to show them our furnishings.

Furnishings: Decorate In Style

When thinking of how to furnish your home it is important to keep it stylish and in-keeping with the "theme" in your house. For example, if you have a traditional country house, avoid mixing this with ultra-modern furniture that will look instantly out of place in a traditional setting. Contemporary furniture always looks best when placed in areas short of space, so a small flat for example can really benefit from the beauty of modern furniture.

Furnishings do not have to cost the earth. They can be picked up at car boot sales or antiques events where you never know what little gem you may uncover. And it doesn't have to be used either - you can quite often pick something up at a car boot sale that has never been used or opened!

Even just that decorative vase in the centre of a table can make all the difference. Furnish to a high standard and everyone will appreciate how great your home looks.
